GodismyDefense ~

Insomnia, there is such a thing as good and bad choices. There are also such things as good and bad impulses.

This is what we like to call nature.

The act of sex is just as much of a choice as the act of sodomy, but you avoid the fact that things are right and wrong when it comes to choices.

Did you know that sodomy is defined as anything aside from the missionary position? But you have to admit that sometimes things are not what they seem, and that you, as well as thw people before you, might have been wrong.

The choice to behave like a homosexual

Which you have yet to prove to me that it is choice alone.

and the choice to be married and behave as becomes a married person are choices,

…which gays are denied…

but there is no argument here. The question is which way is how things are meant to be; which way is natural; which way is better.

And yet you don't show any evidence that you're 100% right aside from the Bible. You don't see me taking scientific evidence into account every single time. I just take what I observe, and what I feel. I get turned on by men. End of story. What are you going to about it? If that is what is right for me, then where do you have the right to step in and "intervene"? You haven't shown me that I'm wrong, only cited Bible quotes that can be picked apart just as easily as any other quote.

We have revelation from God about morality; what it right and what is wrong concerning choices. Incidentally, unlawful sex between a man and a woman (fornication and adultery) are just as wrong as any form of sodomy, and for the same reason.

So basically, since gays can't marry, they're wrong for expressing their love in a sexual form?

God created sex to be for one man and one woman together for life in marriage.

Show me where it says gays can't get married.

Sex is perverted and wrong in all other cases. Sex defined only means physical intercourse between a man and a woman.

Procreation is defined as sex between man and woman (or male and female, in the cases of other species). Sex is defined, in some cases, as penetration of another person's orifices with body parts, really, is what it boils down to. Why do you think there are terms such as oral sex and anal sex?

A man and a man cannot have sex because it it outside the definition of sex.

So what is anal sex, then? What is oral sex? If they are named sex, then they are not outside the definition of sex. It's illogical to state so.

That is why, because of the perversion, a new word was created so meaning would be preserved. The word is taken from the city that God destroyed because of it's sexual perversion; Sodom. Indeed, the book of Jude (read it, it is very short) says that the destruction of Sodom and Gamorrah serves as an example for all those who pollute themselves sexually.

Did that not also involve the practice of prostitution? As well, I thought there were other sorts of sin happening that got them destroyed, in addition to sexual misconstruations.

Revelation is not the only thing we have to consult. We have simple biology. Man and woman were meant to go together.

It's yet to be proven that homosexuality is against biological standards in all forms.

Sexuality, even from a naturalistic viewpoint, has it's origin in reproduction.

It's origin differs from the reality, though, doesn't it? Everything that originates changes with time. Look at Adam and Eve.. they left the Garden of Eden because they changed. Everything moves on from it's starting point.

Homosexuality is the result of some perversion along the line.

Show how.

It is the sexual nature of both man and animals to procreate, not sodomize.

Prove.

The ancients knew this just as well as the modern biologist in his lab. It is the truth.

As I said, it's not conclusive, and you aren't proving it any better than the people before you.

God has given us pure revelation of the truth about good and evil, the world, and human nature in the Bible.

And you think I'm going to believe you why? You know I'm not Christian. The only reason I'm even debating you is because you refuse to just. Let. It. Go. It'd be nice if some of you were a bit more open-minded.

2 Timothy 3:16 says, "All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness." There can be no doublemindedness about it. The Bible is either true or false.

So then prophets were infallible. Right. Gotcha.

Jesus was a liar, a lunatic, or the Lord God in the flesh.

So it is either ALL true or ALL false. Who says it can't be partially wrong? The prophets were human, and they were, in effect, not infallible. They were biased. What makes you think they couldn't have had some of that take effect in their writing? What makes you think that God took their hand and wrote it with their hands? Because that's what you're seeming to imply.

Your issue with homosexuality is that you care more about your own feelings than you do about what is best for other people and what God has revealed to you about what sex is and the only place you have the right to it.

And where do you come off saying something like that? Who are YOU to assume what is right for me? Who are YOU to assume what is going on inside MY head? Who are YOU to tell me what I am feeling, what I am doing, what I am saying, and what is going on in my heart? I think that you should re-evaluate what you are saying before you tell me what I am thinking, sir. Furthermore, my priorities are NOT your priorities. In addition, I am NOT a Christian, and you are going to have to GET OVER that fact.

You will either continue to let your selfish desires govern your life, (which is evil motivation and always leads to evil behavior and unhappiness for you and everyone else) or you will submit to God and believe in something bigger than yourself.

Or maybe you can shut your mouth. I am trying to be the bigger person here. I have not once assumed anything about you, but now I am thinking that maybe you're as cold-hearted as every other anti-gay person out there. If YOU want to be a bigger person, you'll stop preaching to me about something that you can't change, and that I can't either. It is a choice to be a Christian, but it is not a choice for sexuality. If it were, and I were Christian, and NOT in live with who I am in love with, then I would change as quick as I could. But I am not. And if sexuality is, indeed, a choice, then you have chosen to be straight.

Maybe it was simple biological advantages to being a hetero that made people think back then that being straight was best. And by the way, does "God-breathed" mean God wrote it (literally), or does it mean it was inspired by Him? If it simply means it was inspired him, then it can be taken to the writer alone to know exactly what he/she meant, and not you. In effect, then, you are not in any place to interpret what was written, and you are not in any place to say what is right or wrong. People are biased, because they're human. They can make mistakes. And there are a lot of biases that are brought about by observation.

God knows what will make you happy.

You don't. God won't make me happy. He hasn't yet. I see no point in your reasoning here. If I am truly happy now, being gay, and being pagan, then who are you to presume I'll be happier being Christian, when I was raised Christian?

Sin means behavior contrary to how you were built to behave.

No, sin is behavior contrary to God's words.

Sin doesn't hurt God, it hurts you. It is no small fluke that homosexuals borrowed the word "gay" to discribe themselves. Happy is just what they are not, and they will be judged for their rebellion in the day of God's wrath.

And why do you think we're not happy? Because of people like YOU who berate them every chance they get, and then some!

Christians do not oppose homosexuals. They oppose homosexuality.

The former comes inherent with the latter. Don't try denying it. I've seen it too often not to make a generalization out of it.

We do not oppose it because we are "prejudiced."

So are you saying you're NOT prejudiced?

We do not oppose it because we get sick pleasure out of putting people down. We oppose it because we know sin destroys lives.

And has others' being gay destroyed any lives? No. Has being hated for being gay destroyed lives? Yes. People get killed because they are gay. People don't get killed because they are straight.

We oppose it because we know homosexuals do not have to choose their behavior,

You conceded. Good boy.

and they can change their thinking if they want.

Yes, they can decide without you whether to be Christian.

They can change it back to natural sexual desires; the desire a husband and wife have for one another and the desire for [matrimony]. (They can change themselves. That is a clinical fact.)

A ~ What makes you think that a man can't desire another man to share that role?

B ~ What makes you think that someone can't do it?

C ~ What has a gay done to hurt you?

D ~ When has someone else's outlook hurt you, if it didn't involve you?

E ~ Cite evidence that isn't Christian-biased that people can change back and forth.

When Christians oppose homosexuality we are only affirming God's [sovereign] judgement on the sin.

And they're contradicting their beliefs by judging the people that are gay.

We do not make a judgement based on our own authority. (You obviously make judgements yourself because you are rational. You cannot be rational without making judgments about the world around you.)

You're not supposed to be judging, period.

What are you going to do? You have a choice to make.

I am going to be me. I am going to be who I am inside, and not let you, or anyone else who wants to, change that. You have no right to try to change someone else. I know it's one thing to evangelize, but it's something else entirely to preach, and you have a long way to go, sir.

That is all,

Insomnia

stinkycheez ~

insomnia, thanks for making your answers clear and to the point. I'll try to do the same. My first question is...How do you get the spacing to stay the same when you post...my posts come up all sqished together. It's annoying even for me to read. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I do my best. But also, when you make a post, try to separate your paragraphs with carriage return and section break (< br > for a single line return and < p > for a double line return minus the spaces) tags. It'll make it MUCH easier to read. Thanks.

'So I have to use the Bible to set moral standards? Why?' I use the Bible as a guideline for moral standards because it works. Following what it says has made my life so much easier, happier, full filling and free. Simple as that. Everyone I know who has applied it to their lives agrees.

That may be the case, but I find that the Bible doesn't change my lifestyle. I am honest because it is part of who I am. I don't see the point of lying. I don't have sex because it made me feel bad the one time I did, and the fact that it wasn't with someone I loved. I am gay because that is what I feel in my heart, and in my head, and in my soul.

I understand that just because it works for me is not good enough cause why you should use it too. I also believe it is God's word and thus the purest and greatest book on earth. But I didn't say you have to use it as your set of moral standards. Sin is not just doing what the bible says is wrong. It is the nature of human beings to do something they know isn't right.

The only problem with that is that I don't find being gay wrong. If I were to try to be straight, it would be wrong for me. That may make me seem to come off as an opportunist, but that also makes me realist. I'm not going to do something that feels wrong to me any more than you would do something that would feel wrong for you. It is in my nature.

For example, we both agree it is wrong to hit your lil' brother (unless he has a gun or knife in his hand, but lets assume he doesn't). Now for whatever reason we are provoked to hit him, we know deep down that it is wrong, so why do we do it? Because we have a nature to sin. Sin is just a name for when we commit bad deeds (biblical or not) when we know they are wrong.

No, sin is defined as going against the Bible (and God's will). A wrongdoing is something that we know is wrong, be it in the Bible or no.

'In any case, how do you know what is wrong and right? Not every single sin is listed in the Bible' Yes and No. There is not a list in the Bible that names every specific sin possible. But there are definitly guidelines and advice that apply to every sin. So we cand determine whether it is a sin or not. I'd be happy to give you references in the bible if you like.

It's not necessary. But you forgot to answer the first question ~ what position are you in to determine what is wrong and right?

'But what if you are doing something wrong (according to the Bible) that you feel is right in your heart, or that you don't know about?' You would have to be more specific for me to understand what you mean by 'doing something wrong, you feel is right'. For something you don't know about, you can seek advice from wiser more experienced persons, pray about it and (if you believe the bible) read what the bible has to say about it.

Two examples ~ I am gay. I know this is right for me down to my core. I also know that being pagan makes me very happy ~ happier than I ever was being a Christian. Yet both of these are denounced in the Bible. What do you make of that?

'A sin is something wrong according to the Bible.' Not just according to the bible, according to God. 'A bad deed is something morally wrong.' I agree. 'Not very similar at all, because even atheists have moral standards, which more come from a biological viewpoint than anything else.' Of course they are similar. A sin is also morally wrong.

But a sin is only morally wrong according to the Bible. A wrong deed is something that is morally wrong, AND applies to all people, belivers or not.

We both believe in 'acts' of doing something wrong. That act is a sin. So our difference isn't whether we committ 'sins' or 'acts' or 'bad deeds', but where we get our moral standards.

Really, what you're saying is that sins are bad deeds. However, bad deeds are not necessarily sins, because not everyone's bad deed is bad (to them) according to the Bible.

'If you believe the Bible is the only way, then why do you commit bad deeds?' The bible isn't the only way, Jesus Christ is the only way, the bible simply tells us how to find that way and stay with it. I commit bad deeds because I'm not perfect and I make mistakes.

In effect, the Bible is basically the realization that Jesus is the only way, and the Bible is the only way to portray that. Therefore, in its own way, the Bible is the only way.

'If God intended for you to commit bad deeds, then what is the point, if nothing other than to punish you?' God did not intend for us to sin.

Yet he is omniscient. He would have known that we would sin if he gave us free will. Therefore, he made hell with full knowledge that he'd be sending people there.

He made us with a free will. WE chose to sin, God let us make that choice so we wouldn't be robots. Now, since God is all knowing, I'm sure He did know we would sin. But that's not the end of the story. He provided us a way out of sin, he doesn't punish us, but forgives us, teaches us how to avoid it next time, and forgets we ever commited it. Does that sound like punishment to you?

It does, since there are people that have never heard of Christianity, nor the Christian God. What do you make of that?

If we don't take the way out of sin, we will be punished. But He has given us our chance, and if we refuse we deserve punishment.

As I said, there are those that never heard of Him.

'You refuse, obviously, to see that some people find their moral standards and beliefs without the help of a holy book.' Where do you get your moral standards? Where do you think the first set of moral standards came from?

It is influenced by the Bible, yes, because I live in America and was raised by Christian parents. But that doesn't mean that the sole influence on my morals. It's also biological instinct. The first set of moral standards, however, was with the Sumers in Mesopotamia, not the Bible.

Do you believe in Natural Law?

I forget what that is. Do explain.

'Without moral standards, we could not commit bad deeds.' So we can all make up our own set of moral standards and do whatever we think is right?? Sounds like lots of people running wild. ~cheez

No. What I am saying is that morals define what is good and bad, and without them, there would be NO good and bad. You can't say there's good and bad without having guidelines to define them, and that's exactly what morals do ~ they set a guideline for them.

That is all,

Insomnia

Okay, now that THAT is done.. I'm bored as all hell. I don't know what to do.. so.. I'm eating. Crackers, yum. No real update, methinks. Nothing happening, really. [sigh] I hate being bored like this. No one's on that I really want to talk to. The room is all bored.

I got my comp back today (yay) and I get to be in a wedding next year (yay again). And I've been told by someone that if I let him buy a piercing, I am probably getting nipples pierced, lol. That'll be interesting. Nothing that I'd get myself, but it's something that I gave him the choice of what I'm getting pierced. hehe.. I know what I want pierced. If anything other than that gets pierced, though, it's someone else buying it for me.

Bah. Mmm.. crackers. I'm bored, still.

~patrick

1. I love you not because of who you are, but because of who I am when I am with you.

2. No man or woman is worth your tears, and the one who is, won't make you cry.

3. Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

4. A true friend is someone who reaches for your hand and touches your heart.

5. The worst way to miss someone is to be sitting right beside them knowing you can't have them.

6. Never frown, even when you are sad, because you never know who is falling in love with your smile.

7. To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.

8. Don't waste your time on a man/woman, who isn't willing to waste their time on you.

9. Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one, so that when we finally meet the person, we will know how to be grateful.

10. Don't cry because it is over, smile because it happened.

11. There's always going to be people that hurt you so what you have to do is keep on trusting and just be more careful about who you trust next time around.

12. Make yourself a better person and know who you are before you try and know someone else and expect them to know you.

13. Don't try so hard, the best things come when you least expect them to.

REMEMBER: WHATEVER HAPPENS, HAPPENS FOR A REASON.

♥

15 Things you didn't know you didn't know

Eskimos use refridgerators to keep food from freezing.
The sentence "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" uses every letter in the alphabet.
The first toilet ever seen was on "Leave it to Beaver."
The average lifespan of a Major League baseball is 7 pitches.
A duck's quack doesn't echo. No one knows why...
If you have three quarters, four dimes, and four pennies, you have $1.19. You also have the greatest amount of money in coins possible without being able to make change for a dollar.
When Heinz ketchup leaves the bottle, it travels at a rate of 25 miles per year.
The Bible has been translated into Klingon.
It is possible to lead a cow upstairs, but not downstairs.
Only one person in 2 billion lives to be 116 years of age or older.
The only fifteen-letter word that can be spelled without repeating a letter is uncopyrightable.
The cigarette lighter was invented before the match.
35% of people who use personal ads for dating are already married.
Five Jell-O flavors that flopped are celery, coffee, cola, apple, and chocolate.
In Cleveland, Ohio, it is illegal to catch mice without a hunting liscence.

hehe

I hate fundie Christian teens sometimes.

Prissy_17 wrote:
It is demonic because it is the direct defiance of God and involvement in practices closely connected to Satan.

Please do explain, because I am really interested in hearing this.

quote:
Because of being exposed to the demonic realm without asking for God's protection, I suffered demonic attack in the form of irrational fears.

Bull. Everyone suffers from irrational fears.

quote:
This spiraled out of control for about a year until I finally sought help from my parents and a pastor. Only then was I released from demonic strongholds in my life.

I see psychiatrists are out of the question...

quote:
Insomnia, I have seen into the spiritual realm (angels & demons) and know for a FACT that demons are involved in the practice of witchcraft.

Demons do not equate to Satan.

quote:
I have seen it with my own eyes and you haven't.

And you know I haven't how? Have I tried telling you that you have or have not done somthing? Like I said, choose your words wisely, girl, because I will be quick to tear them apart. Especially in threads dealing with paganism.

quote:
I have proof enough to know what I am talking about.

I have seen no evidence, and would like to.

quote:
I am perturbed that you are accusing me of saying something I never did concerning paganism. You have fabricated a lie that I never said in this thread. Go back and read what I said in the beginning. Obviously I NEVER MEANTIONED THE TERM PAGANISM. Please stop. I haven't done any harm to you

You equated any religion not Christian (therefore pagan) into Satanism/demonic practice. That is not true. You have actually hurt me. You haven't hurt my pride, but you have hurt my dignity. You have hurt my dignity by telling me that I have not done something and asuming that I have not done something without asking if I have or have not first.
AIIF-Exonerate wrote:
Firefly, to be honest, I'm not an expert on Wicca. However, I know that their main rule is that if you do something, it will be inflicted on you times 3, regardless if that action was good or bad.

Basically, that's a weird way of putting karma, which is also just saying "what comes around goes around," and its normally all equal, and sometimes it just takes time.

quote:
To my knowledge, there is nothing that says if somebody doesn't treat them well, they don't have to treat them well.

However, there is also nothing stating that if you don't treat someone well, you will get treated well in return.

ILOVELUCY wrote:
Have you ever researched satanism or talked to a satanist? It really isn't the worship of satan, its basically just humanism. I suppose there might be true satan-worshippers but satanism does not mean they worship satan. And Wicca is basically considered sissy by satanists since it has mostly to do with nature and nature spirits.

Exactly the point I've been trying to get across. Most magic that is used in Wicca/paganism is used to fend off demons and evil spirits, not to bring them in (unless used by people that are both evil and bad; evil does not necessarily mean bad). Ver few that wield magic, to my knowledge, use it for bad purposes, but they are out they, and from what I have heard, it leads to the conclusion of jealousy.
That is all,
Insomnia

That is what I am posting in response to this thread on GP4Teens.com.

May Fourth

May Fourth

The day of nurturing support

Those born on May 4 are destined to impart to others what they have learned through study or experience. Whether they teach formally in a school or not, they will pass on the ins and outs of their field expertise to those who work with them or seek them out for coaching advice. Although they may appear mild-mannered, May 4 people have a magnetic power which frequently lands them in positions of responsibility. Rather than being leaders, however, they should seek to be part of a team.

One of the legacies of this day is a propensity for risk-taking. Many May 4 people do not discover this tendency until late in life when they feel a pressing need to change in order to further their spiritual growth. May 4 people seem anything but compulsive—in their calm often conservative appearance they belie the gambler within. Their risk-taking need not be physical, but rather a daring to dream, have new ideas or break the mold. At some point in life they will have to confron tthis challenge.

Again, because of a mild, pleasing exterior, May 4 people may be mistaken for an easy touch. They are, however, strong enough inside to withstand exploitation and also possessed of tremendous stubbornness and a severe temper. Thus May 4 people are not always what they seem. Although tractable, diplomatic and agreeable in most situations, they can dig in their heels and refuse to budge over important issues. Their ideals are extremely dear to them and rarely compromised.

May 4 people have an inner stability and nurturing nature which attracts those seeking guidance and support. Therefore, they must beware of devoting all of their time to others (family, friends) or investing their entire personality in the basement of an organization or cause. They may be quite happy doing so, but after so many years of dedication can come to resent such responsibilities and long to be free.

Those born on this day generally handle retirement well, as it is a period of time in which they are at last free to attend to personal interests. May 4 people aree often late bloomers, perhaps daring to make one single life change (in their forties or even fifties) which will bring them success and happiness they never thought possible.

May 4 people are dependable and there to help. Their statements are made less through words than through example as they believe strongly in manifesting their beliefs in action. Sensible and down-to-earth, those born on this day are happiest when at home, creating a beautiful atmosphere in which to live.

Numbers and Planets

Thos eborn on the 4th of the month are ruled by the number 4 and the planet Uranus, which is both erratic and explosive. SInce Mya 4 people are usually calm and level-headed, they keep uranian influences under control, and create a venusian (Taurus) love of beauty and harmony. However, people ruled by the number 4 have unique viewpoints and methods. Because they so often take a minority point of view with great self-assurance, they can arouse antagonism and make enemies, often secret ones. Though people ruled by the number 4 typically rebel against rules and regulations, those born on May 4 generally manage to do so in a gracious and diplomatic manner.

Tarot

The 4th card of the Major Arcana is The Emperor, who rules over concrete and worldly things through wisdom, the primary source of his power. The Emperor is stable and wise; the force of his authority cannot be questioned. The positive aspects of this card are strong willpower and steadfast energy; unfavorable qualities include stubbornness, tyranny, and brutality.

Health

Those born on May 4 must guard against energy depletion, often a result of the excessive demands of others. Regular eating and sleeping patterns are necessary for maintaining health and happiness. Raising childrenis often of great importance to those born on this day and the highest expression of nurturing talents. All forms of beauty have a highly positive influence on the health of May 4 people; deprived of it in their surroundings, they will suffer physically as well as psychically. Due to their Taurean love of food, those born on this day have to control their appetites; they can gain weight in a short period of time if they let themselves go. Mild forms of exercise such as walking and gardening are good for them. May 4 people must take pecial care of their vocal chords, particularly if speaking or singing is part of their profession.

Advice

Avoid being self-sacrificing; pay more attention to your own needs. Have faith in the abilities of your children or dependents to go it alone. Don't worry so much about your image to the world; express what you feel. Remember that you won't get anywhere without daring to fail.

Strengths

Caring
Warm-hearted
Stable

Weaknesses

Self-denying
Resntful
Unfulfilled

Born on This Day

Audrey Hepburn - film actress, UNICEF worker

Horace Mann - educational reformer, pioneer of modern public school system

Thomas Henry Huxley - British zoologist, lecturer, writer

Bartolommeo Cristofori - Italian instrument-maker, credited with inventing first piano

Ron Carter - jazz bassist, composer

Hosni Mubarak - Egyptian president

Lincoln Kirstein - New York City Ballet manager

Keith Haring - painter, social illustrator

Randy Travis - country singer, songwriter

Maynard Ferguson - jazz trumpeter, band-leader

Sonny Payne - jazz drummer

S. Paul Ehrlich - physician, biologist

Frederick Edwin Church - 19th century landscape painter

Lawrence Rawl - EXXON Chairman

Roberta Peters - coloratura soprano

Howard Da Silva - actor, radio director

Amos Oz - Israeli noveslist, My Michael

Alice Liddell - inspiration for Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland

Manuel Benites - legendary Spanish bullfighter

John Hanning Speke - British explorer, first European to see Lake Victoria.

Meditation

Only the painting feels no desire.

♥
